The Ocean

Jennifer Martin

I don't live near the water and most of my life
All my trips to the beach have been here in my mind
But there's something about me and oceans I find
We go together.

I am drawn to most anything sea-foam blue
In the ebb and flow of my life there's You
Using oceans and rivers and all that You choose
Trying to reach me.

Keep me on the edge of me
Here where Heaven comes to meet
Earth and all humanity
At the shoreline
Let Your deep call out to me
Let Your waves take me to see/sea
All my vast and endless need
At Your shoreline

I have lived in a desert most of my life
Never knowing Your rivers of mercy were mine
Till that one desperate moment I called on You Lord
You took me to Your shore

Mighty waters, mighty waves
Crash against this soul and take
More of me each time You quake my shoreline
Till the day I wake to find
My all has crossed the great divide
Where land and ocean used to meet
Not a single trace of me,
Just  you, Just You
I will see You and be like You...

From here it is nothing I can prove
But I think in the moment I first see you
I will look in the eyes of the deepest blue
And I'll see the ocean.
